Women More Bilaterally Balanced than Men

Thursday, February 15th, 2001 Risk Management

Think back to your youth. (Now for some of us, that might be harder than for others, but we won’t go there.) Mom would be barking orders, and you would sassily reply, “I hear ya’, I hear ya’!” And then you’d hear back from Mom, “I know you can hear me, but are you listening? I said, ‘Are you listening?!’” In effect, the retort should have been, “How well are you listening?” And the answer to that query may be determined by your sex, because now it’s suggested that men use only half of their brain when listening. Of course, any married woman can confirm that finding without benefit of scientific data, but for Doubting Thomases — or Thomasinas — there’s now evidence of such, compliments of Dr. Joseph T. Lurito, an assistant radiology professor at Indiana University School of Medicine.
