Wrong-Way Driver Hits 2 Vehicles On Phoenix Interstate

Interstate 17 northbound is closed at Camelback after a wrong-way driver caused a crash on Tuesday morning.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Tim Case says one of their officers spotted the driver getting on the I-17 on the Glendale off-ramp. He then began driving southbound in the northbound lanes. When the officer saw their headlights coming in the wrong direction, he tried to stop the driver. According to Case, the driver went around the officer and proceeded to hit two other cars. The suspect was reportedly driving in the HOV lane.
