100-ton dome set aside as oil from Gulf spill nears shore

The massive Gulf of Mexico oil spill began touching the outer edges of the Louisiana and Alabama shorelines as an attempt failed to corral the gusher with a concrete-and-steel containment dome. BP, the oil company that owns the compromised well, has not decided yet how to proceed, BP spokesman Mark Salt said. "They are looking at the options today and deciding on a way forward," Salt said.
