Agents Demanding Better Data Exchange
Monday, August 23rd, 1999 Risk Management TechnologyDemand by insurance agents for single-entry, multiple-company interface (SEMCI) is high, according to a survey recently conducted by Insurance Value Added Network Services. The company provides technology consulting and connectivity services to the insurance and health care industries and also conducts frequent surveys and research projects on subjects related to technology. A majority, 52 percent, of the agents responding to the IVANS questionnaire said they considered SEMCI “very important” to their agency. Of this number, however, only 25 percent said their agencies were currently using SEMCI to upload data to insurance carriers. But, of the 75 percent not currently doing SEMCI upload, close to one-third plan to begin using it within the next year, according to the survey.
