Claims administrator Crawford & Co. on Monday said it has launched smart water-sensor technology to help reduce water damage claims. Atlanta-based Crawfords escape-of-water claims management product provides round-the-clock monitoring and detects leaks via sensors placed throughout a property, the company said in a statement. If water is detected, the wireless sensors alert Crawfords operations center, which notifies the property owner of the event within minutes, dispatching a water mitigation company to the site if needed, the statement said. Crawfords 24-hour call center takes first notice of loss claims by phone to begin to mitigate the water damage claim, the company said.
