A Dallas man has been sentenced to over 13 years in federal prison for masterminding a multi-million-dollar insurance fraud scheme. Jordan Ford, 32, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and was ordered to pay nearly $4.5 million in restitution. His scheme involved recruiting insurance company employees to steal client information, which was then used to reroute claim payments to fraudulent accounts.
According to court documents, Ford paid employees to provide client details and even borrowed company-issued laptops to access insurance systems directly. Over time, he and his co-conspirators diverted funds from at least three insurance companies, accumulating over $4.4 million in fraudulent proceeds.
Nine individuals, including Ford’s close associates and the insurance employees who assisted in the scheme, have all pleaded guilty. The FBI’s Dallas Field Office and the Texas Department of Insurance led the investigation, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Weybrecht prosecuting the case.
This case highlights the ongoing risks of internal fraud within the insurance industry and the severe legal consequences for those involved in such crimes.
