An El Paso woman, Lizzette Zambrano, is suing the Sonoran Sea Resort in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico, for over $1 million following a tragic incident where her husband, Jorge Guillen, was electrocuted in a hot tub. Zambrano, who is currently in critical condition, was also injured while attempting to rescue her husband. The lawsuit claims the resort was negligent in maintaining the jacuzzi’s electrical wiring and failed to warn guests of the hazard.
According to the lawsuit, other resort guests were also shocked when trying to assist the couple, and it took the resort staff ten minutes to respond to the emergency. The delay allegedly resulted in Guillen’s prolonged electrocution and drowning. The General Prosecutor’s Office of Justice of the State of Sonora is investigating the cause of the electrical discharge.
Zambrano is represented by attorneys Tej Paranjpe and Michael Rodriguez of PMR Law and Charles Bush from Bush & Bush Law Group. They are seeking to prevent the resort from altering the jacuzzi to preserve evidence for the case. The lawsuit underscores the resort’s duty to ensure guest safety, a responsibility the attorneys argue was severely neglected in this incident.
