Authorities in Florida have accused a woman and her husband of masterminding an extensive insurance fraud scheme, allegedly defrauding patients and insurance companies of $11.2 million through unauthorized dental practices. The scheme, which involved opening multiple dental offices under the names of licensed dentists, reportedly misused credentials without the dentists’ knowledge. Investigations revealed payments to one dentist for the use of his name, although he had no active involvement in the practices.

Over the years, the accused reportedly operated four dental offices in South Florida while falsely billing patients and insurers for services not rendered. Specific fraudulent actions included billing patients twice, overcharging for procedures, and submitting claims for treatments that were never performed.

The investigation began in 2021 when a dental office buyer uncovered irregularities in patient billing. Authorities discovered that funds from the dental practices were transferred to personal accounts, allegedly financing a $1.9 million luxury home and other assets. Detectives seized cash, checks, and documentation during a search of the couple’s home, linking them to the fraudulent activities.

Officials plan to seize the couple’s assets, including their home and bank accounts. The accused face multiple charges, including grand theft, insurance fraud, and operating dental offices without proper licensure.
