Ford’s CEO Jim Farley recently announced that the company is on the verge of achieving level 3 autonomous driving, potentially making Ford the first major U.S. automaker to reach this milestone. This announcement coincides with the reopening of the Michigan Central Station in Detroit, transformed into a tech and cultural hub.
Farley emphasized that level 3 autonomy, which allows drivers to occasionally take their hands off the wheel, could be a reality for Ford in the near future. This advancement marks a significant leap for the company, which shifted its focus from level 4 to less advanced driver assistance systems after shutting down ArgoAI in 2022.
