GM Recalls 21,469 Cadillac Lyriq Models Due to Unexpected ABS Activation

General Motors (GM) has initiated a recall for 21,469 units of its 2023-2024 Cadillac Lyriq models due to a defect in the anti-lock brake system (ABS). The issue, identified in all-wheel-drive versions, involves the unexpected activation of the ABS, which can release brake pressure in the service brake system. This malfunction could result in a loss of braking ability, significantly increasing the risk of a crash.

GM plans to remedy the situation by updating the electronic brake control module software, either via an over-the-air update or through a dealership visit. The recall was officially reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) on August 8, 2024, and affected owners will be notified starting September 23, 2024. Concerned Cadillac owners can contact customer service for further information.
