When it comes to claims, successful people—and successful companies—understand the business and legal environments in a broad context as well as in the context of coverage. The business and legal environments are changing in this new economy. The value of a company is not driven by tangible assets like computers and office furniture. Intellectual capital drives the value, and intangible assets need to be protected. Corporations must aggressively manage earnings growth and volatility. We’ve seen first-hand what can happen to companies that don’t manage their earnings growth. And you cannot manage earnings unless you also manage your intellectual capital and your intellectual property. Intellectual capital is viewed as a way to strengthen earnings.
