Allstate has released its 2025 America’s Best Drivers Report, ranking the 200 most-populated U.S. cities based on auto collision rates derived from claims data. This year’s report not only lists the safest and riskiest cities for drivers but also compares them to their positions a decade ago, uncovering notable trends in road safety.
Brownsville, Texas, topped the list as the safest city for drivers, followed by Boise, Idaho, and Fort Collins, Colorado. Texas dominated the safe-driving rankings, with 21 cities, including McAllen and Corpus Christi, showing strong improvements. The Pacific Northwest also experienced a positive shift, with Bellevue, Washington, climbing 133 spots to become the most improved city since 2015.
On the flip side, Boston, Massachusetts, ranked as the riskiest city for drivers, with Worcester, Springfield, Baltimore, and Washington, D.C. close behind. Most of the riskiest cities are concentrated on the East Coast and in California. The Midwest saw mixed results, with cities like St. Louis and Des Moines experiencing significant drops in their rankings.
The data, based on property and collision damage claims from 2022 to 2023, highlights a widening gap between the safest and riskiest cities despite an overall national decline in collision rates. The findings serve as a reminder for drivers everywhere to prioritize safety and remain vigilant on the road.
