Staking a Claim

Monday, May 21st, 2001 Risk Management Technology

The future of online claims is not in the hands of technology leaders or software developers. The future of online claims, like the future of just about everything, depends on the strength of the economy. The tools are available to make online claims a reality, but lacking is a decision from some of the country‘s top insurers to commit to the future-and with it a new way of doing business. ‘Getting the technology to work‘ is the stumbling block most insurers cite when explaining what the software holdup is, and the big and burly world of claims has a whole set of problems of its own. Convincing insurers that the millions of dollars needed to get their claims departments online is a sound investment can be difficult, especially as the economy seems to be starting the down side of its cycle.
