Firefighters battled a massive blaze at a historic home in west suburban Hinsdale Wednesday afternoon. The home was built in 1899 and is considered a national treasure once known as "American Beauty."

A 67-year-old woman was killed and four other people were injured, including a 5-year-old girl, when a vehicle crashed into a bus shelter and caught fire Tuesday night in the Calumet Heights neighborhood.

Crews are starting street repair work after a car got stuck in a sinkhole Wednesday in Hobart, an official said. A stretch of Lincoln Street near East 9th Street was blocked off Wednesday after the front end of a car fell into a sinkhole.
