In 2022, the insurance industry made a significant impact on philanthropy by contributing over $1 billion to various charitable causes, as reported by the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF). This considerable effort was further underscored by the IICF Philanthropic Giving Index, which showcased the industry’s dedication to giving and volunteerism, including support to 137,300 nonprofit partners and causes, 7.5 million volunteer hours served, and participation of 94,000 insurance professionals.
The impressive philanthropic activities of the industry were highlighted on National Philanthropy Day, a day to honor philanthropic contributions. IICF, established in 1994, plays a pivotal role in uniting the insurance industry for community betterment. Over the years, it has contributed $47 million in community grants and hundreds of thousands of volunteer hours, supporting charities like KiDS NEED MoRE, 180 Turn Lives Around, Boston Scores, and the National Alliance on Mental Illness. These efforts not only reflect the industry’s financial generosity but also its commitment to enriching lives and supporting communities through various initiatives.
