The Institutes recently launched the Associate in Cyber Risk Management (ACRM) designation, designed to enhance the expertise of insurance and risk management professionals in addressing cyber risk. Cyber threats, including data breaches and phishing attacks, present significant risks for businesses of all sizes, often resulting in severe financial consequences. The ACRM designation aims to provide a comprehensive framework for managing these risks by training professionals on cyber exposure identification, risk mitigation, and available coverage options.

Adam Carmichael, President of The Institutes Knowledge Group, explained that the designation targets various roles beyond IT, including risk managers, underwriters, and brokers, emphasizing cyber risk as a critical enterprise-wide issue. The program features three main courses plus an ethics module, with most participants expected to complete it within six to nine months.

Through expert-led content and insights gathered from industry advisors and independent research, the ACRM program addresses common knowledge gaps. Professionals will learn about the complexities of cyber insurance coverage, policy exclusions, and evolving best practices in cyber risk prevention. Given statistics showing cyber risk as a priority for 62% of global executives, this designation reflects an urgent need in the insurance and risk transfer sectors to better equip stakeholders for managing this persistent threat.
