Six men are charged with allegedly staging car accidents in an effort to defraud car insurance companies.

French startup Shift Technology just raised a $10 million Series A round from Accel, with existing investors Elaia Partners and Iris Capital also participating. Shift Technology uses big data and machine learning to detect patterns of fraudulent insurance claims.

An Orange County Social Services Agency (SSA) group counselor sentenced today for defrauding over $30,000 from the County of Orange by making fraudulent statements relating to his workers’ compensation claim.

A Jefferson Parish grand jury indicted 13 men accused of running a large-scale auto theft ring with the help of an unnamed former elected official.
