Recent breaches involving Hawaiian Airlines and Canada’s WestJet signal a troubling shift of focus toward American targets, raising alarms across the aviation industry.

Primarily composed of financially motivated, English-speaking young adults without a rigid organizational structure, Scattered Spider employs sophisticated phishing and social engineering tactics. They frequently trick IT help desks by impersonating trusted employees and contractors, effectively bypassing multi-factor authentication (MFA) protocols. Their breaches typically involve theft of sensitive data, extortion, and ransomware deployments.
