The city of Sun Prairie filed a lawsuit Friday against two communications contractors, an underground utility locating service and a gas utility over the July 10 explosion that killed a firefighter and leveled several buildings in the city’s downtown.
Fraser Shipyards in Superior has reached a $7.5 million settlement with more than 60 workers who were exposed to unsafe lead levels while working on a Great Lakes freighter. Four lawsuits were brought against the Superior shipyard for blood lead poisoning that occurred while working on the boiler and steam power system of the 59-year-old Herbert C. Jackson.
The tornado count from last week’s severe storms in southern Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin now stands at 16. Fifteen of those tornadoes were in Minnesota, making the Sept. 20 storms the largest September tornado outbreak on record in the state, according to the National Weather Service.
