French startup Shift Technology just raised a $10 million Series A round from Accel, with existing investors Elaia Partners and Iris Capital also participating. Shift Technology uses big data and machine learning to detect patterns of fraudulent insurance claims.

Travelers Accused Of Fraud, Bad Faith In Seminal Suit
A federal jury trial started Monday in a case in which one of the nations largest insurers is accused of fraud, deceit and acting in bad faith. Charter Oak Fire Insurance, which is owned by Travelers, is accused of failing to disclose the existence of a $1 million insurance policy to the lawyers and victim of an automobile accident.
